Happy New Year! 2013 promises to be a very productive year for me-- I've got several projects in the works, including (finally) the release of my novel Even Stars Die as an e-book. I'm also hoping to continue my affiliation with the Gallery Gachet, and I'm looking into resuming my studies to gain some certification as a graphic designer. I'll be sure to post new developments as they happen.

I do have a bit of good news concerning what I posted in my previous journal entry. Yesterday I went back to the CityScape Community Art Space in North Vancouver to finish up with my involvement in the Anonymous Art Show. The day before, I had received my paycheck in the mail for the one painting I sold on opening night, so I just had to pick up my unsold work. When I got to the gallery and told them who I was, though, they told me I only had one painting to pick up. Apparently, the Friday before Christmas, after the show had closed out, someone came into the gallery looking for artwork as a present and bought one of my remaining pieces! This was very much a last minute lucky break for me-- the gallery was just about to close down for the holiday. So, the staff wrote out another check for me on the spot, and I took my one unsold painting. Hey, two out of three ain't bad!

It's been a while since I've updated things here. I apologize for that. 2013 has been a very busy year for me. However, I am finally ready to unveil some exciting new changes.

If you cruise over to the Gallery section of the website, you will see the biggest of these changes-- I have added a whole new section for my graphic design work. Over the past year, I've gained a new Associate Certificate in Graphic Design from BCIT. This new gallery reflects a whole other aspect of my creative practice which, until now, was not formalized. However, I will continue to add new projects to that gallery, to show off my design capabilities as well as my traditional fine artwork.

Regretfully, for the first time in four years, I will not be showing work in the North Vancouver Anonymous Show for 2013. My current circumstances have left me unable to submit anything. However, I should mention that, even as I was working toward my graphic design certification at BCIT, I was able to enter a show at Gallery Gachet in downtown Vancouver this past June. One of my pieces, The Interpretation of Signals Has Never Been a Strength of Mine, was exhibited in the gallery's Mad World show for over a month.
